Chili Knit Pants with Tucks, Pattern

Pattern for moderate-volume, straight-cut knitted pants with a sewn-on elasticized waistband. The waistband sits at the natural waistline. The front panels feature slash pockets and are styled with two tucks each: one vertical tuck and one angled tuck. (Alternatively, both tucks may be made vertical). The back panels have darts. The side seams and pocket seams are trimmed with piping.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:

For sewing this model, it is recommended to choose a knit fabric of medium or moderate density. Regarding the fiber composition, it is desirable to choose a material containing natural fibers (wool, cotton). A resilient, non-sagging and opaque knit, French terry, or jersey will work well.

The pants in the Elenapatternstudio photo are made from 3-thread looped French terry, composition: 65% cotton, 35% polyester, weight 320 g/m2.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Main fabric, taking into account a 10% allowance for possible shrinkage, m:

  • Knit piping 10-11 mm wide with a cord 2 mm thick ~ 3-4 m
  • Elastic 3.5 – 4 cm wide, length ~ Waist circumference + 10-15 cm allowance
  • Threads to match the fabric for the overlocker and for the sewing machine
  • Needles for knit fabrics for the sewing machine and overlocker No. 80 – 90 and for hand-basting
  • Twin needle for knit fabrics for the sewing machine No. 80/2.5 – 90/2.5 or No. 80/3 – 90/3
