Vita Knit Shorts, Pattern

This is a pattern for straight-leg shorts. The waistband is attached and features a casing with three rows of elastic. The front leg panels have slash pockets and optional top-stitched creases. The back leg panels are shaped with darts. The side seams and pocket seams are trimmed with piping.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:

For sewing this model, it is recommended to choose a knit fabric of medium or moderate density. Pique knit, French terry, jersey, and single jersey will work well. When sewing from dense knit, it is recommended to use a thinner knit for the sewn-on waistband.

The shorts in the Elenapatternstudio photo are made of double-face pique knit, composition: 80% cotton, 20% polyester, density 300 g/m2. Rib knit was used for the sewn-on waistband.

The fabric consumption in the table includes the waistband. If you plan to use a thinner knit for the waistband, the consumption will be 12 cm less (all sizes).

  • Fabric for the sewn-on waistband (rib knit) – 12 cm with a width of at least 120 cm.
  • Knit piping 10-11 mm wide with a cord 2 mm thick ~ 1.5 – 2 m.
  • Matching thread for the overlocker and for the sewing machine.
  • Knit fabric needles for sewing machine and overlocker No. 80-90, and for basting
  • Twin needle for knit fabrics for sewing machine No. 80/2.5 – 90/2.5 or No. 80/3 – 90/3
